Magnificent May

It's a perfectly wonderful month.
Full of so many things I love; color, warmth, new life, hope, freshness, beauty, flowers, outdoor parties and fun.
One of the best bits is that I have months of this glory and magnificence stretching out ahead of me like some delicious unending feast.

On one of the first warmer days Patrice & I had fun getting the yard spruced up.
There have been so many weeds due to the huge amount of rain we have had this spring, but they were easy to pull out.
This kind of thing can be brutal on my hands, but it's just so satisfying to pull out the ugly intruders and see the bark mulch look so clean and fresh again.
Since the winter was especially cold and snowy we lost a number of our rose bushes so Patrice cut them down and we burned the prickly branches.
Such satisfying work!

The puppies enjoyed being outside with us, sporting their trendy new haircuts.
They don't quite know what to make of the fire...

So wonderful to be outside with our hands in the dirt, putting planters together and getting the patio ready for another fabulous outdoor season.

We celebrated with an outdoor bbq pizza party!

Such a great way to get a crispy crust.
YUM!

As you can see it's not quite "warm" out, but we were determined to get the season rolling!
Look at all that GREEN and the lovely lilacs filling the air with heavenly scents.
And the fabulous friends we get to share with.

Patrice makes mmmmarvelous pizza!

Thankfully Mother's Day dawned bright and beautiful so we were able to enjoy some time out on the patio before heading over to Mom and Dad's for supper and an episode of plant earth.

Liz has been hanging at our house for a bit and she's blended in beautifully with our family.
Such a delight to hangout with this bunch!

And this guy.
His skinny legs and sitting posture cracks me up.
We continue to be endlessly humoured with him.

The dogwood trees are one of the prettiest, in my humble opinion.
Wishing I had one of these in my yard....
