Vic's Vonderful Visit

The dreary days of February were brightened by dear Victor arriving with his big smile and cheerful serving ways.

He was able to visit mom almost every day and reported that she was doing well in the care-home and was quite content there.  That is an immense relief for me as I am still not able to visit her.
He also brought her home for family meals a few times which was a delight.

It's so nice to have cozy gatherings as we wait for the brighter, longer days of Spring.
I must say though, Elsie and Marsha have plenty of diversions all year long as they are both very involved with their church group.  Marsha has just taken on the job of children's pastor there and Elsie often leads worship at her bible study group.
It's been such a gift for all of us to have so many opportunities for worship and prayer since we are facing battles on many fronts as our country is seemingly being led by a wanna-be dictator.

For one of the meals I made a delicious Thai Curry Chicken Soup which was a big hit.
In my cooking world, there is a lot of repetition; crock pot meals, chicken noodle soup, spaghetti and nachos, but I finally got the right ingredients for the Thai soup that I had been longing to make and it was just as amazing as I was hoping.

It's all in the secret sauce!!

The bird feeder just outside the kitchen window has also been a most delightful diversion and dear Hannah has been so faithful to keep it filled.

As you can see here, a large flicker was helping himself while the smaller birds kept their distance!
So far I can recognize chickadees, junco's, red house finches and I think a song swallow as frequent fliers at the feeder.
I more frequently see the flickers trying to bang holes into the maple tree outside my bedroom window, so this was an unusual sight.

And speaking of Hannah - she is now the proud owner of a beautiful, new-to-her car that will help her get safely up to the ski hills and is also just big enough for her to sleep in if she does some road trekking.

She continues to be a great comfort and help to me.
God knew exactly what he was doing when he sent her my way.
We understand each other well and are able to debrief the weirdness of our present life and encourage each other through prayer and worship.
She is presently the children's pastor at her church and is taking her master's in counselling.

Two's Day...02, 22 ,2022

Tuesday (Two's Day)
of the second month of 2022
What's going on?!

There has been a build up to this day and year for quite some time. Not only for me, but for many others, as I have discovered. For years now I have been seeing multiples of 2's
I look at the clock and so often it's 12;22 or 2:22 etc. and I have seen variations of the 222 theme in various places.
I was kind of wondering what the year 2022 would have in store and wondering what this was all unto...so bear with me as I unpack this a bit.

February of this year has definitely seen shaking like I've never seen before in my little world.

Thankfully others are on this journey and I'm trying to track along with a bigger picture as I ponder the significance of these repeat numbers.

Of course, the first place to go is the source of wisdom in the Word and I'm liking what I see in  the book of Daniel!

He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what lies in darkness,
    and light dwells with him.
Daniel 2:22

I LOVE THIS PASSAGE!
I am asking for wisdom and revelation in understanding the times and seasons in which we are living.
LIGHT DWELLS WITH HIM.
I need light in every area of my life.
Light to expose the blind spots I need to deal with and to guide me into greater truth.

And then there is the verse that is the most well known in regards to this set of numbers.

I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
Isaiah 22:22

This is the verse that I first became aware of years ago when I started noticing the sets of 2's and it speaks to me of authority.
His and ours.
The opening and closing of doors and access points.

Interestingly, yesterday Hannah found a set of keys out on the driveway and she brought them in wondering who they belonged to.
We haven't yet found the owners but it was a curious find that seemed significant.

TWO keys, one decorated with butterflies  (of all things?!) attached to a wedding band with strange inscriptions - reminding us of the ring from the hobbit movie.

.
I've felt an affiliation with butterflies, firstly because one of my nicknames was "Schmetterling," which is Butterfly in German.  My auntie used to say that I flitted about from one friend to the other and one event to the next... always busy and looking for fun.
After the accident she lamented that I was a butterfly with broken wings.

I am also part of a small group of women that nicknamed ourselves the "Butterflies" due to the different seasons of change, grieving and metamorphosis that life was taking us through as we adapted to marriage, kids, aging and the sometimes very sobering and painful transitions our journey through life presented us with.
But there is always hope, as the butterfly so aptly teaches us.
After basically getting "liquified" during a season of waiting, she breaks forth from her cocoon and takes wing, looking gloriously like her Creator, robed in colour and splendour.

Anyways, on Sunday morning I was on the prayer-firewall listening to a woman from Ireland called Veronika West  who moves in the prophetic and she has seen a butterfly theme for Canada. She rarely takes on requests to meet with groups via zoom calls but thankfully she felt compelled to take this one.

Here is part of the first reference from a word she got from the Lord on
January 31,

"The Lord spoke a powerful word to me yesterday morning as I prayed for Canada. At first I saw in my mind's eye the great convoy of trucks moving like caterpillars across the land; then suddenly, I saw those caterpillars morph into beautiful monarch butterflies in the realm of the spirit. I watched as the monarch butterflies flew high into the air, filling and covering the skyline with radiant colors of deep red, yellow and orange, and like the light of a rising sun on the horizon."

And on February 19 she released this word which she shared with us:

Fires of revival and rivers of restoration shall come on the wings of the butterflies. The key of the house of David shall unlock the land and set at liberty those held captive.

Early hours of this morning I saw something amazing in the realm of the Spirit,…which I knew was speaking to the Nation of Canada….
…I saw a Butterfly 🦋 laying upon the ground which was covered in deep snow and ice,…and I saw that it’s thin, fragile and delicate Wings were damaged,…but as I looked and looked again, suddenly I saw two nail pierced hands come down upon the beautiful butterfly,...and the butterfly was gently scooped up off the cold and frozen ground...

...and then I saw the mouth breathe once again upon the butterfly, and I watched as it suddenly flew upwards, and as it flew high into the cold and frosty air, so small tongues of fire began to fall upon the cold and frozen ground, and I watched as the thick ice that covered the land began to thaw and rivers began to rise across the nation.

And I heard these words..."watch as I breathe new life upon my butterflies, for the breath of my resurrection power shall ignite the fires of revival that shall burn brightly across the nations, and the rivers of restoration and healing shall rise and flow forth upon the land!!!"
As I heard those words,…I saw a great battle raging and suddenly I heard the spirit say, "Only the power and authority of the key of the house of David shall unlock the land and bring liberty to a nation held in bondage"!

On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
Revelation 22:2

I have never seen so many Canadian flags in my life as I have seen during this past 3 weeks.
That gorgeous red maple leaf waving boldly in the winter winds proclaiming good news!

And amazingly, in this past month we have seen our Canadian Flag, bearing the beautiful Maple Leaf flown in nations around the world.
What has happened here has given hope to many;
there is hope for the ending of oppression that many have been under.
I don't know how it will all pan out, but I can pray and hope along with others for a move of healing among the nations of the world.

The prayer call went on for over two hours and was packed with revelation and hope.

So glad I get to be alive "for such a time as this", even though it has felt unsettling.
It has also felt incredibly hopeful and exciting.

I'll take a double portion of that on this day of double doubles!

February Foodly Festivities

Jan & Coral are not only the best managers we could have hoped for at the apartment, they are also very good friends and true lovers of God.
We were chatting on the phone late one afternoon - probably something rental-related- and I mentioned that there was a place that we could possibly eat at.
We've been banned from the majority of eating establishments for the past 6 months or so which hasn't been a big deal, but the thought of Thai food was more than we could bear so we took our chances and with a little bit of persuasion were allowed in.

It was well worth it.
I ordered something new and I'll have to remember this dish if I'm ever allowed to eat there again.
Something delicious on a bed of spinach.
Now that's the way I like to get my vegetable quotient in!

We also had a fun Sunday evening dinner with Esther & John.
It's definitely been the month of doubles..
I had made angel-food cake with whip cream and berries but Elsie brought along dilly bars so we just had it all!!
No holding back in this crowd.

The following Sunday evening we celebrated Tante Hilda's birthday and  amazingly we were once again forced to enjoy double desserts by no planning of my own!

I had prepared chocolate parfait's for everyone but Tante Hilda's friend sent along the cutest, most decadent little birthday cake for the occasion.
So once again, we just enjoyed every last bite of BOTH desserts.

As you can see I exercised my little creativity muscle and put up some floaty hearts since it's the month of LOVE...

I even wore my big soft LOVE sweater.

Valentine's Day happened to fall on one of our Hobbit Man Cave nights.
As you can see the desserts were not only healthy and delicious but BEAUTIFUL!
Avocado chocolate pudding topped with coconut cream, raspberries and chocolate chips!
The main course was also amazing and since this is turning into a foodie type blog it would be remiss of me not to mention that we had spicy chicken curry and rice.

I LOVE this little bunch and our fun evenings.
Before supper Jazz and Josh took a dip in the lake, disturbing a deer that was lounging on the lawn on their way down.
I couldn't think of anything more uncomfortable than being very cold and wet at the same time, but they are in the pursuit of health and are considerably more adventurous than Celia or I!

Slow Roll

In solidarity with those who are fighting for our nation's freedom, I decided on very short notice to join in a "slow roll for unity" after receiving this text...

Marsha was more than excited to join in and we picked up Tante Hilda who was also eager to show her support and have an outing.

Of course Maria and Winnie were eager participants as well and the day was pretty much perfect!

We started out with a Timmy's drive through to get some coffee's and snacks which was a bit of a fiasco.  In our excitement we almost lost the flag but eventually we got sorted and waited for the "slow roll" to pass by so we could join in.

There was a lot of laughter and Marsha was waving and yelling whenever she had the opportunity.
Such a festive, fun feel to the drive!

It was a great excuse to get out of the house on a Saturday morning.
I've been very happy to stay home and cozy this winter so my outings have been few and far between.

We are truly longing for freedom from all of the limitations and for sanity to prevail.
This was our opportunity to put a bit of action behind our prayers and to join in the show of unity for our valley.

We didn't proceed down to the border with many of the others, but after enjoying the party atmosphere downtown I dropped of Tante Hilda and Marsha and headed back to my cozy abode.

Meanwhile, Daniel sends me fun pictures of his weekend outings.
He bought himself some new gear and is really enjoying the winter sports.
His big smile really warms my heart - he is feeling much more like himself these days which is so good to see.
