Free Food

I don't even know exactly what happened just now, but after Anita finally got up after sleeping all night and pretty much all day we went down stairs to floor minus 1 to find a brown bun for her in the cafeteria.

We could tell they were preparing for supper but that's not in our budget at $40 a plate.  Big amazing platters of fruits and hummus and food were being carried out and set on the counters. When Anita asked one fellow for a bun he got another fellow to come out who was in charge of the meals.  This guy started chatting with us and I told him the breakfast was the best meal I had ever had in my life.  His name was Elion and before we knew it he had invited us down for the supper meal free of charge.  He told us to go to floor 0 to watch the end of Shabbat and to hear the singing first.

So of course we said yes, we could manage that.

We got back into the elevator and tried to head to floor 0 but somehow the elevator kept going up and got stuck on floor 12.  We were pushing buttons and tried the alarm a couple of time and an unintelligible voice spoke once and then nothing.  So we pushed more buttons and waited wondering if we'd have to miss our amazing meal.

Finally the elevator started moving again it ended up back on  -1 where the food man was standing and waiting to go to floor 0.  So we went with him and saw the end of Shabbat. I love the singing and the men with their prayer books and yarmulkes.  We finally figured out that this huge group of people and small children that we keep seeing everywhere were taking part in a big wedding here.  So now we're going to go down and enjoy this amazing place - Jerusalem Gardens Hotel with it's rather outrageous hospitality.

I'm looking forward to the rest of this trip.
