Happily Home Again

As you can see, the medication did it's work and Dad was feeling much better by the weekend and Mom was eager to head home.

She was relieved to be released from her hospital "prison" and to get back into familiar surroundings.
She was still coughing a lot and was exhausted from the battle.
But here she is with a smile on her face.

Two days later Victor arrived, just in time to help with getting Dad home.
This trip had been planned long before the influenza struck, so it was very providential timing.
God is always at work,
He is always near,
He is always good.

Dad emerged from the hospital looking like a movie star.
He was actually disappointed that this hospital stay and his sickness did not lead to his demise, but I figure God is being merciful and giving Dad yet another chance to make his peace.

On the way home we stopped to get him a hamburger and fries as a little homecoming treat.

It was a perfectly beautiful Spring day.

At home I took advantage of the sunshine and dried my quilt outside.

The yard was also showing some hopeful signs of Spring's arrival - spots of grass were appearing around the trees and a bunch of the dog's toys were emerging from  their long winter's rest under the mounds of snow.

Soon we'll be seeing tulips in the garden and not just in jars on the coffee table!

It was such a treat to have Vic with us.
He spent lots of time with Mom and Dad so that Elsie and I could catch up with our lives at home plus he spent time with each of us helping out with various and sundry tasks that he is always so good at.

What a super star he is.
Such a gift from God.
Ahhhh, family.

Brison was having fun with Mr. Blue Bird who has become friendly again and is enjoying sharing our drinks...

He was a little traumatized from some work I tried to do on his beak and has been giving me the cold shoulder for the past two months.
But obviously he has chosen to forgive and move on.
We're enjoying his friendly demeanour once again!

Since Vic was around to help out I went back to teaching for a couple of days before Spring Break.
I had a fresh stash of jelly beans which created some excitement in my little back room.

I also took in the fabulous drama production of Beauty and the Beast at the school where Makana was part of the cast.

She had to wear a very heavy plate which I thought was a perfect backdrop for her beautiful smile.

It was so much fun and I was amazed at the talent of the kids.

Norm and Lorabeth are still camping out in the backyard, braving all sorts of weather and a few trailer malfunctions.
We are all happy to be spending more time outside as the sun melts away the layers of snow and ice and warms our hearts.
There is hope on the horizon.
Always, always hope.
