Taking the Ground

Anita, Jan and I joined in with a group from the city that gathers once a year on Knox Mountain to pray for our city and country.
We usually meet in town with our own group on Wednesday nights but this corporate gathering happened on the same night which was perfect.

It's hard to resist a unified movement that involves worship and prayer, especially when this is the backdrop for the occasion!

The sun came out and cast a golden glow on us as we lifted up the Name of Jesus and spoke out some declarations from the Word.

We ended by putting a "stake in the ground".
It was a wooden cross.

One by one we took our turn praying a prayer over our nation followed by hitting the cross into the ground with a hammer.

That was my favourite part...

Hearing the beautiful, passionate, heartfelt prayers of a people who take seriously their call to stand on guard and take back the ground.
So many serious issues are facing our nation.
We are so rapidly giving up ground to the enemy - leaving our children exposed to heinous teachings and giving up the very laws that have protected us and the foundations that our nation was built on.
It's heartbreaking to see the depravity that has entered our land.
BUT
we serve a great and glorious King.
The Lord of Heaven's Armies - Creator of the Universe.
He tells us it's not by might, not by power but by His Spirit that we will win.
If we humble ourselves and pray...
On our knees with tears streaming down our faces and a passionate cry for righteousness and justice on our lips.

The weapons of His warfare are not carnal but are mighty to the tearing down of strongholds.
We cast down every thought that exalts itself above the knowledge of Jesus Christ,
entering His Gates with thanksgiving and His Courts with praise we call for His Kingdom to Come and His Will to be done.
Here in our hearts, in our families, in our cities and in our nation - on earth
as it is in Heaven.
Yes & Amen.

June is also a great month for heading downtown with the pups to enjoy the sunshine while sipping on a latte...

Another whole world exists down by the lake, just waiting to be enjoyed!

I headed home while Elsie and Anita took the pups on a long walk along the lakefront.

There was also the Walk & Roll-athon happening on another fine June Day so we rounded up Tante Hilda and Mom and took part in the festivities.

These two sisters...
Such good sports - also good at sharing!

Anita brought her Dad & brother out to join in the fun.

There were contests,

A swing band with talented dancers,

and Lisa was out handling the broom with great dexterity!

And of course, since it is June,
Father's Day happened and Dad, by the grace of God was still here to celebrate!

He wasn't too perky but we got him outside and I brought some burgers and fries which we enjoyed together.
I even remembered a vanilla milkshake - his favourite, which he sucked back with gusto.

After supper Elsie and I gave Dad a foot wash with essential oils and then we rubbed cream onto his feet.
He seemed to thoroughly enjoy it - he just leaned back and drank in all the love.
An act of love for a very dear father.

And back at home the family is beginning to prepare for their trip to the Philippines and Borneo where they will be teaching English and Organic farming.

Below is my latest attempt at rejuvenating my brain.
Apparently coconut oil is supposed to help.
So I'm adding it to my hot drinks...

I'm a little concerned about all those extra calories adding inches to my waistline instead of neurons to my brain.
