Bye Bye Birdies

These delightful little companions have been making beautiful music in my home for quite a few years. (Along with a lot of squawking and not so beautiful noise...) Snowball has been here a number of years longer than Matzy, but they are best buddies and have created lovely songs and entertainment for me.
They have little spats followed by a great deal of kissing and sharing of food along with other cute birdie antics.

It was fun having them fly around the housing, surprising unsuspecting houseguests as they made close contact while zooming over their heads on the way to their favourite perches on the fireplace and in the office.
For the most part I enjoyed the company and the cheerful chirping and lovely evening birdsongs, especially in the darker, quieter months of winter.

However.
There has been a general consensus over the past year or so that the noise created is annoying to many of my houseguests and it interferes with the increasing number of zoom and Skype calls held around the kitchen table.
Some of my book-club ladies also found the sound distracting.

I must also admit that some of our dinner conversations around the table would be interrupted by increasingly loud chirps as our own conversations became more animated, and people with hearing aids found this especially difficult.

These complaints accompanied by my distraction with looking after a new puppy, Ladybug and Oma finally brought me to the decision to sell them to someone who would have more time to appreciate and look after them.

Frankly, I was tired of vacuuming up the seeds and feathers and it was feeling more burdensome to feed and clean their cage on a regular basis so I made the plunge and listed them in the local paper, praying that God would provide them with good owners.

Lo and behold, about a week later I got a message from a lovely young lady named Abby who was wondering if my little cuties were still available?

OH YES, YES THEY WERE!!

The exchange was made in my back entry and this was the last picture I took of my sweet feathered friends.

When Abby arrived, after introducing her to them I got emotional and couldn't even go outside to say goodbye as she carried the birds away.
I then proceeded to sit in the living room crying out my sad feelings.

I was a little bit surprised at the strong emotion this farewell provoked in me, but I entered into the grief and let it out.
Who knew such tiny creatures could work their way so deeply into my heart and life?!

Abby was exceedingly kind upon seeing my distress and she sent me pictures of their new home and new feathered room-mates.

She texted me saying:
"I promise they are in good hands and shall be loved endlessly"

💕💕💕

What more could I ask for?

Here they are in their familiar cage in their new home with a few alterations made in their dwelling.

God even looked after my tiny feathered friends... He did after all say:

"Aren't two sparrows sold for only a penny?
But your Father knows when any one of them falls to the ground."
Matthew 10:29
